Optimal angle - beautiful portraits
The 85mm lens from SAMYANG is an ideal focal range, providing the focus on the essentials. On the full-format camera, its image angle of 29 ° provides the optimum concentration on the imaging element. If the 85 / 1.4 is connected to an APS-C camera, an image angle of 19 ° will work, which corresponds approximately to the image impression of a 135 mm lens. The same 85 mm on a 4/3 camera has an image effect even like a 170mm of the full-format camera and the again at 1.4 aperture. This very practical light intensity of 1.4 never changes, this not only provides an extremely bright viewfinder, but also the possibility of the release by the smallest depth of sharpness. The lens is very well corrected and convinces by very good and distortion-free imaging performance. The very compact design provides a comfortable handling with a balanced center of gravity.
Outstanding light
Due to the high light intensity, this SAMYANG lens allows the use of shortest exposure times or lower ASA values. This considerably reduces the noise on the digital cameras. The large initial opening with a lower sharpening depth optimizes the position of the sharpening plane in the viewfinder. Convenient secondary use of the high light intensity is the highlighting / releasing of the subject against blurred foreground or background.
High quality optics and mechanics
The lens is equipped with an internal focus and offers a close focusing distance of 100 cm. With 9 lenses in 7 groups, it is very elaborately built, expects optimal performance already with aperture open. In the case of arming, inside lens elements are displaced: the overall length of the optics therefore does not change and the 72mm filter thread does not rotate during arming. The iris diaphragm has 8 lamellae and a nearly circular diaphragm image. The gradient into the blur is reproduced harmoniously with fine bokeh. Of course, all lens surfaces are multi-layered to increase the contrast of the images and to avoid reflections. Everything is rounded off by precise mechanics, clear-cut aperture values and production in high-quality metal mount.
Advantages of a full-frame lens on a camera with APS-C sensor
Save time in post-processing. A variety of lens errors such as distortion, edge blur, or vignetting appear on the outside of the image. If one is used for V
